LIVING THE GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
THE STEGENOR APPROACH on SDG’S
THE STEGENOR APPROACH on SDG’S
Poverty is not only a lack of income but lack of education, gender inequality and social discrimination. To this goal, Stegenor microfinance Ltd is committed at providing financial and entrepreneurial education through inclusion, acquisition of employable skills and micro-credits to its communities thereby creating a common ground to eradicate poverty. We partner with NGO’s like MAMA LOVE FOUNDATION, WOMEN OF GLORY to reach-out to economically active but poor members of our communities. We have touched so many lives through our community and social interventions.
A number of success stories are being shared across many livelihoods with great impacts. About 60% of our micro-credit portfolio sits with women who are engaged in employable and trade skills. Self-sustainability is key in all our support systems. We seek to create an enabling environment where lasting solutions to poverty and implemented.
To ensure that we end hunger, attain food security and end all forms of malnutrition by the end of 2025. We are committed to this goal through the provision of farm inputs and other implements to support crop production in our rural areas. Stegenor wants to see an end to the needless hunger and malnutrition that affects most communities in Ghana. To ensure adequate supply of food in their right amounts and proportions to both humans and livestock. Every school child deserves to be fed with a three square meal to make their academic endeavors a success.
Attain equality in gender and give power to all women and girls. Priority in ensuring that the girl child is well educated in order to create a self-dependent lifestyle. Most of the group loan we administer are female biased and this creates a better opportunity for most traders to access these loans for their trades and home improvements. We also support girl child education through scholarships and other support schemes with our social partners.
To improve water quality and ensure sustainable management through sanitation and hygiene. Our support to the communities we operate are more than just financing water projects to them. We also support the villages to manage and maintain the supply of clean and hygienic water that is accessible to all livelihoods. We have supported four communities in financing boreholes that pump clean water to the entire community. Management is also committed to providing a mechanized system for these communities. Water is life and must be preserved at all cost. Education through local media about the essentials of water preservation is key to our outreach programs.
Bridge the gap of income inequality within and among communities and countries at large. This we do be providing support in the form of loans to economically active but poor people who are capable of engaging in a local trade. There is a rising gap in unemployment across our communities. Our concept of THE ENTERPRENEUR TRAIN is live and working well to engage the youth in setting-up viable trades and businesses. This is gradually reducing the employment burden in our communities and the nation as a whole.
